Labyrinth Theatre

Until 2012, Undercurrent was formerly known as Labyrinth Theatre. Founded in 2000 we created the following productions:

Jungle was inspired and adapted from Rudyard Kipling’s ‘The Jungle Books’ and created the illusion of an entire kingdom with only three performers and a couple of dustbins.

In 2001, Jungle sold out at Camden People’s Theatre where it was awarded Time Out Critics’ Choice and transferred to the BAC Time Out Critics’ Choice Spring Season 2002.

Written by Robert Messik
Directed by Laura Farnworth
Designed by Caroline Corrie
Music by Olivier Bessaignet, Clement Fung, Julia Kirby
Performed by Caroline Corrie, Robert Messik/David Horne, Matthew Reynolds
Choreography Assistant: Al Davison

Labyrinth Theatre’s muscular version of Kipling’s classic is a piece of physical theatre that’s unusually unafraid of a serious theme.
— 5 weeks at Time Out Critics' Choice
This is a highly physical performance, demanding amazing feats of acrobatics, balance and sheer energy…..At times, you wonder if they will survive to the finish….a hurtling, exhilirating delight.
